Dear Reader,

This is a somewhat belated Happy New Year letter to all of you.  The new year brought good news and bad news for me.  The good news first.  The Marquis Surrenders (Wild Rose Press) is complete and should be out shortly.

The Marquis Surrender's -- Pearl WolfThe Marquis of Manton, a spy known to London’s Underworld as a highwayman called The Fox, must prevent the assassination of The Prince Regent.  He enlists the aid of the Lord Mayor of the underworld, a patriot who is not averse to bribery.  His information leads The Fox to catch a spy who turns out to be not the man he expected to capture.  She is Lady Serena Hendricks disguised as a man who seeks the kind of adventure she yearns for  in the handsome highwayman.  When she meets him again as the Marquis, she thinks him a dead bore, clearly preferring The Fox to him. Love finds a way when The Marquis Surrenders  to Serena.

A second novel, Christmas in New York, scheduled for November or December 2015, is also complete.  Here is a brief description:

Attorney Jen Gaines, who works for small firm in Yorkville, accidentally knocks down Andy Worth at the Rockefeller Center Ice Skating Rink.  He’s a hot shot corporate lawyer aiming for a partnership at his prestigious law firm who won a case against her in the past, and she still resents him for it.  He tricks her into joining him as his date for his Christmas office party.  Jen loves her work, something Andy envies her for because he’s burned out from working 80 hours a week.  Andy’s envy turns to love when he meets her family and her friends, but Jen is reluctant to reciprocate because she believes, wrongly, he has lost his moral bearings.  A new case has them butting heads in Court again.  Parker vs. Parker is a divorce law suit between a billionaire and his showgirl wife Betsy, who hires Jen to represent her.  Andy is forced to represent Frank Parker, the billionaire, who insists Andy do everything he can to avoid paying alimony, even if it is illegal.    The Christmas season throws Jen and Andy together enough for her to gradually come to the conclusion she has been wrong about his character.  She accepts his  marriage proposal.  At the wedding ceremony, they seal their commitment to one another with personal vows that promise that a bright future is in store for them.

Now for the bad news.  I flew to Florida for my usual three month stay to avoid the cold of New York City’s winter, fell on January Second, and fractured my hip.  I’m mending in Nu Vista, a wonderful rehab facility in Wellington, Florida.  I’ve been here for three weeks and am doing well, I’m grateful to say.  I celebrate my Eighty Fifth birthday on February Fifteenth, just two weeks away.  What a way to celebrate!  In spite of this disaster, I’m up and walking and anxious to party with my family and friends on that date.

Best wishes for the New Year,

Pearl signature
